Sports Premium
Sports Premium
The Sports Premium is funding provided by the government to help primary schools improve the quality of physical education (PE), sport and physical activity.
Purpose of the funding
The aim is to make sustainable improvements to the way schools deliver PE and encourage lifelong healthy, active lifestyles.
Schools must use the funding to:
Increase opportunities for pupils to take part in physical activity
Raise the profile of PE and sport across the school
Provide staff with training and resources to improve PE teaching
Introduce new sports and activities
Improve facilities and equipment for PE and play
Develop links with local sports clubs and organisations
Use of the Sports Premium
At Bolton Brow, the Sports Premium funding is used effectively to enhance the quality and breadth of physical education and sporting opportunities for all pupils. The funding is strategically allocated to:
Provide access to specialist sports coaching and a wide range of extracurricular clubs, encouraging participation and developing pupils’ skills across a variety of disciplines.
Purchase high-quality PE equipment, ensuring lessons are well-resourced and enable pupils to achieve their best.
Develop staff expertise through targeted training, supporting the delivery of engaging, inclusive, and progressive PE lessons.
Organise inter-school and intra-school competitions, promoting teamwork, resilience, and a sense of achievement.
Promote active play and wellbeing during break and lunchtimes, encouraging pupils to lead healthy and active lifestyles.
This strategic use of funding ensures that all pupils benefit from improved provision, increased participation, and enhanced physical and mental wellbeing.
