Just like everyone has a body, everyone has mental health. It’s not just about mental illness. When children have good levels of wellbeing it helps them to learn and explore the world, feel, express and manage positive and negative emotions and form and maintain good relationships.
At Bolton Brow, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of everyone in our school community. This page provides information and resources to help support our families.
Emotional Health & Wellbeing
What is wellbeing?
“A positive state of mind and body, feeling safe and able to cope, with a sense of connection with people, communities and the wider environment.”
At Bolton Brow we:
help children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks
help children to understand their emotions and feelings better
help children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries
help children socially to form and maintain relationships
promote self-esteem and ensure children know that they count
encourage children to be confident and ‘value difference’
We promote a mentally healthy environment through:
promoting our school values and encouraging a sense of belonging
promoting pupil voice and opportunities to participate in decision-making
celebrating academic and non-academic achievements
providing opportunities to develop a sense of worth through taking responsibility for themselves and others
providing opportunities to reflect
providing access to appropriate support that meets their needs

Happy family relationships make us all feel good and help our children feel secure and loved. Often as a parent or carer, we are trying to juggle lots of things, and keep our own relationships as positive as can be. Sometimes all relationships can become difficult, and this may impact everyone. Relationships Matter has been created to provide advice, tips, and support to help keep our relationships positive and to support parents and carers.
